Certificate Programs

To encourage personal development and spiritual growth, the Howard Thurman Bible Institute offers various Certificate Programs.  Certificate Programs are designed to increase a student’s knowledge through sound biblical doctrine as well as elevate their understanding of the calling God has on their life. One, two, three, and four year programs are available.  To celebrate the accomplishments of our students and other honorees, we end our school year with a graduation ceremony called “HTBI Honors”, held every year in July.

Teacher & Leadership Certification

Interested in one of our certificate programs?
Leadership, Pastoral Care, Public Safety, Social Justice, Lay Counseling, Intercessory Prayer, Foundational Studies, Old Testament and New Testament.
This advanced course is a requirement for persons called to leadership, teaching or the proclamation of God’s word. This training provides intensive instruction in theology, teaching, biblical interpretation and leadership. Students must attend all classes.  Required Book: Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know by Wayne A. Grudem

In addition to registering for the class with HTBI, prospective students must complete the online form at htbi.friendshipwest.org for consideration and approval by FW Pastoral Staff. By completing the form, prospective students understand that entrance into the certification training requires that they be a member in good standing at Friendship-West Baptist Church.  A member in good    standing consists of being: 1) a faithful tither, giving at least 10% of your gross income and 2) a regular attendee of Wednesday Bible Study and/or HTBI and 3) involved in ministry. Non-Members must register with HTBI, complete the online form at htbi.friendshipwest.org, and Pastoral Staff consideration and approval is required in order to participate. Students will be notified by an HTBI team member of their acceptance.
