Course Details: The Sankofa Quest - Discovering Our Past, Shaping Our Future (DISCOVER).
Instructor: Rev. Nerissa Grigsby

Throughout the course, children will explore key moments in Black history, learn how our ancestors leaned on faith to persevere, and uncover what it means to carry wisdom forward with confidence and purpose. They will be encouraged to see themselves not just as learners, but as leaders, builders, and world-changers who are part of a story much bigger than themselves.
Sankofa teaches children that honoring the past is not about staying there—it’s about using what we’ve learned to walk boldly into the future God has prepared for them. This is more than history. More than memory. Its purpose in motion.

Course Details: (CHOSEN) Patterns of Our Faith.
Instructor: Rev. Kea Westbrook

We will take an interactive look at the involvement of youth during the civil rights movement. We will connect biblical principles to youth leadership and activism. Teens will consider their own personal and collective call in our current civil rights struggle and discuss where we go from here.

Only Love Can Do That: The Political Theology of Martin Luther King Jr.
Instructor: Rev. David Malcolm McGruder

This will be a hybrid course, available both in-person and online.
This course explores Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a political theologian whose ethic of love reshaped modern democracy. Drawing from King’s sermons, speeches, and writings, we examine how his theology of agape informed nonviolence, justice, power, and the vision of the “beloved community.” Students will consider King’s critiques of racism, capitalism, and militarism, and reflect on what a politics of love means in our present moment.

Course Title: Christian Education Empowering, Equipping, and Educating THE VILLAGE Across Generations (TLC)
Instructor: Rev. Sandi Magee

This course will focus on strengthening teachers and leaders in linking cross-generational everyday life stories with biblical story scriptures and Christian faith stories found in the African Diaspora that focus on the values associated with the image of “The Village.”  These connections will bring awareness of the continued fragmentation of the Black family life and the disconnect between generations on one hand, yet, on the other hand, the profound yearning of Black people for a common family history.
TEXTBOOK:  Soul Stories African American Christian Education by Anne E. Wimberly ($16.24 Amazon; $15.43 Kindle)

Faith & Public Action: Responding to the Times.
Instructor: Rev. Dr. Danielle Ayers

This four-day programming is a call for people of faith who refuse to be silent while the nation trembles under the weight of injustice. It is a space for truth-telling, moral clarity, and collective Courage. We come together not to wring our hands but to steady them for the work ahead. Over the three sessions, we will confront what is happening in our country (families torn apart by cruel immigration systems, public education under attack, grocery prices rising while wages stagnate, health care treated as a privilege instead of a human right, and elections manipulated to silence the voices of the marginalized and those who pose a threat to systems and institutions. We will not look away. We will not allow fear and lies dressed up as policy to make us feel powerless. By examining biblical texts, we will discuss the consistent connection between Jesus and Justice, and between the God of Justice.
